The practical purpose of the work was to improve the exchange of information and experiences in training and further education and facilitate greater co-operation and networking between educational institutions and researchers. 

A questionnaire was sent to European countries to map out the situation in arts management training in Europe. The present directory gives information on the training given in 15 European countries as well as on pan-European courses. 

Training and education in the field of cultural administration and arts managent is presently going through very dynamic development and a lot of changes are taking place. The present directory aims at presenting those programmes and courses which appear to be of a more permanent nature and which have a wider European interest.
